1. Yes, probably! I mostly worked in queer and indie porn, where we chose our sex partners and were filmed having sex how we wanted to. I think that’s probably more useful in some ways for people who are porn illiterate. That said, I have also tried new things due to the more mainstream porn — for example, I grew to enjoy glory hole roleplays because I saw it in porn, and was able to tell my partner, so we added in some dirty talk which was really fun! So while I think better porn is important and necessary, I don’t want to slam mainstream porn for existing. I just wish it was less racist/transphobic.
  2. I’d like to see clear discussions of boundaries and desires in rom coms. Plenty can still be miscommunicated or go wrong to make it fun, but the struggle to come to a mutual place of understanding is very realistic to how relationships work.
